Contact Service

Open Door Contact Service aims to offer support and guidance between family members separated from each other, enabling the continuation and development of important relationships.

Open Door Contact Service provides Supervised Contact between children and their parents or relatives in a secure safe environment, with the child's best interests being paramount.

We aim to maintain or build relationships after separation when circumstances result in contact needing to be supervised, observed or assessed.

Our team have a wide range of experience of working with a diverse range of social groups and are able to offer support either within or outside of the centre.

Referrals are accepted from C.A.F.C.A.S.S., Children's' Services Departments and Solicitors and in exceptional circumstances self referral.

Written reports are provided for the referrer following each contact; in addition assessments can be made.

Open Door Contact Service can also facilitate Supervised Handovers between parents not wishing to meet when the child goes between the contact and resident parent.

Family Services & Contact

Family Services

Open Door has run an outreach Family Support Service since 1996 for families with children in need. We have a team of Family Support Workers chosen for their experience, skills and knowledge that visit families in their own homes to work together on identified needs.

Family Support Workers can support families experiencing a range of parenting problems for example, establishing household routines, behaviour management, sibling rivalry, nutrition and feeding problems, and social isolation. As long as the area of work assists the family to manage and improve the lives of children it will be considered.

Work with a family is usually completed in approximately 3-5 months depending on progress and
amount of input and is focused on the identified needs. A review of the work is held every 6 weeks.
Assessments and reports can be completed for referrers if required.

Access to the service is by referral only. Where the referrer does not hold a
S.L.A. contract with us, costs will be agreed in writing before work commences.
